I like webcomics. i read a bunch of them. last time i checked, i read a 120 different comics.

that's quite a few, even for a guy who likes to read a half dozen books at the same time. i don't usually have trouble keeping all the characters seperate, which occasionally happens with text. probably because the characters have physical traits to identify them.

anyway, i was bored and trying to sleep, and my mind took this as a cue to start thinking. and i thought about webcomics. and why i like them.

I like webcomics because they're free, for the most part. I've donated money occasionally, but there's no need for me to buy the books or any pressure to donate. and it's unlikely i could read the same amount of comics if i was purchasing them.

that doesn't really matter, as i'm not a fan of print comics in general. with VERY LITTLE EXPERIENCE, i can say that they've never been particularly engrossing. They lack a connection with the artist, and metahumor, which i find hilarious, is often sorely lacking. the writers and artists of print comics seem to be less able to write what they want to.

Webcomics of course, are entirely dissimilar. with a much lower risk factor in their publishing, artists are freed from the bonds of fiscal responsibilty. this generates a lot of ... unusual comics. I won't lie, a good deal of them are shit. Some of them are good. A few are awesome- the perfect combination of unusual, absorbing and slyly witty.

i like webcomics because i can't binge on them, read them all the way through in three days. i do this all the time with books. wheel of time series? month. harry potter books were all read two days after they came out. (until the fifth one-I stopped reading the harry potter books after that). webcomics are an exercise in patience for me.

done yapping now
